Recently many universities in the U.S. have made use of their facilities to revitalize local communities. However, the relationship between universities and local communities in Korea has been somewhat different from that in the U.S. Thus, this study attempts to examine the University of Pennsylvania as a successful example. It focuses on the characteristics of the community revitalization such as university facilities development, campus improvement, and community planning activities. The goal of this study is to explore how the University of Pennsylvania has revitalized its local community and to find out lessons learned in Korea. |
