¿ä¾à2 The purpose of this study is to examine the emotional expressions of Ando Tadao¡¯s architecture and confirm the process of how emotions become empathized to the concreteness of nature through the architectural abstraction. Therefore, the background structure behind the emotions expressed through Ando Tadao¡¯s architectural languages is concluded to be ¡°the pleasure of concrete of the nature through abstract architecture.¡± The emotions of Ando Tadao¡¯s architectural languages expressed through this kind of relationship of the background structure are as the following. First, the space perception which arouses interest and deep emotion is referred to with the words of ¡®interesting¡¯ and ¡®passionate,¡¯ second, that which introduces straight nature is ¡®rich,¡¯ third, the reflection of locality is ¡®differentiated¡¯ and ¡®individual¡¯, fourth, the concrete through light is ¡®alive¡¯ and ¡®refreshing¡¯, and fifth, the spiritual view of nature by water is ¡®natural.¡¯ These words of emotions show the common variable of ¡°the pleasure of concrete of the nature through abstract architecture¡± expressed in his architectural languages, and seem to share the common tacit meaning about them. Through the elements of light or water, observers are to experience empathy when they see the abstract, geometrical, space of concrete reflecting locality by re-recognize the mental nature of each individual.
