The hourglass-shaped strip damper (HSD) under consideration is a metallic damper in which the strip shapes were optimized based on in-plane flexural behavior. In this paper, the nonlinear cyclic hysteretic model which was previously proposed for HSD is described. In order to accurately represent the actual behavior under incremental cyclic loading, combined kinematic-isotropic hardening was considered in the model. The load-displacement relationship and the dissipated energy predicted by the hysteretic model showed good agreement with test results. |
