South Korea is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the building sector, setting the target of reducing CO2 by 41.9 million tons by 2030. This is in line with the Paris Agreement and the 2050 Carbon Neutral Scenario. This ambitious goal emphasizes the need to enhance energy performance in buildings, particularly through green remodeling of aging structures. Therefore, this study investigates how the inclusion of test reports for windows and doors affects the energy performance evaluation of these remodeled buildings. Utilizing the ECO2-OD simulation tool, this study analyzed 15 buildings in the Gangwon region to observe the differences in energy savings when test reports are included versus when they are not. The study findings reveal that including test reports results in significant reductions in energy demand (with a decrease of 62.7 kWh/m©÷¡¤yr), primary energy requirement (with a decrease of 64.4 kWh/m©÷¡¤yr), and greenhouse gas emissions (with a decrease of 9,553 kgCO2eq). These results highlight the crucial role that accurate data from test reports play in optimizing energy performance evaluations. By demonstrating the significant energy savings achieved through the inclusion of these reports, this study advocates for the mandatory submission of test reports in green remodeling processes. This approach not only ensures more precise evaluations but also assists in more effectively meeting national targets for greenhouse gas reduction. |
