¿ä¾à2 This study investigates trial construction cases using on-site recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) of ISO Grade 2 quality in highway and airport concrete pavements. In highway field applications, RCA was utilized in lean concrete and surface pavement, showing satisfactory workability, compressive strength, flexural strength, and FWD deflection performance, all meeting or exceeding the required criteria. In some cases, RCA concrete exhibited equivalent strength compared with natural coarse aggregate (NCA) concrete. Furthermore, a modified equivalent mortar volume (EMV) mix design that accounts for the amount of adhered mortar content (AMC) in RCA was validated through an airport pavement trial, confirming its feasibility for quality control and field application. When 25 % of RCA was substituted, compressive strength and elastic modulus were found to be comparable to those of NCA concrete, and pavement smoothness evaluated by IRI values also met the required standards, demonstrating the applicability of RCA concrete in pavement construction. A comparative analysis of domestic and international RCA quality standards revealed that Korea maintains a single-grade criterion with excessively high requirements, limiting practical implementation. With the recent establishment of ISO 18985 (July 2025), further research is required to extend the application of ISO Grade 2 RCA to pavements with lower traffic volumes, parking lots, and various precast concrete products.
