¿ä¾à2 (Background and Purpose) This study reinterprets user experience in experiential tourism spaces not as short-term satisfaction but from the perspective of memory persistence and emotional consolidation. Whereas conventional design focuses on immediate immersion or sensory stimulation, this study investigates how experiences become long-term affective memories within individuals. The process of episodic memory formation is reframed as a spatial design framework to analyze how sensory experiences are integrated through personal meaning-making and social interaction. The aim is to establish a theoretical frameworkthat translates the cognitive and emotional mechanisms of memory into a designable structure, enabling tourism spaces to be designed around long-term memory principles. (Methods) Drawing on neuroaesthetics, cognitive psychology, and evolutionary aesthetics, previous studies were reviewed and reorganized into six design principles: event boundary, sensory cue coherence, self-referential labeling, meaning labeling, relational narrative, and social feedback. Based on these, the cognitive transition process of episodic memory was modeled into five stages?experience, encoding, recall, reappraisal, and emotional consolidation?and applied to the sensory and social contexts of tourism spaces. The interrelations between design principles and cognitive processes were analyzed, and an evaluation checklist was developed to review the coherence and ethical alignment of memory-oriented user experience design. (Results) Episodic memory was interpreted as a cognitive transformation in which sensory perception becomes structured into memorable events through meaning construction and social appraisal. Each design principle functions as a main or supporting mechanism across the experiential process. Key factors include sensory consistency, self-referential engagement, concise meaning labeling, and credible social feedback. Scenario analysis indicated that the coherence of sensory cues and labeling enhances encoding cohesion, while self-referential and meaning labels link experiences to personal narratives. Relational narrative and social feedback promoted emotional reappraisal and stabilization. Furthermore, digital media integrationserved as a critical mediator in recall and emotional consolidation, reactivating memories through re-exposure, personalized feedback, and emotional recording. These results suggest that when sensory, semantic, and social factors are structurally aligned with digital interfaces, spatial experiences evolve from temporary impressions into sustained emotional memories. (Conclusion) This study presents a theoretical model that translates the cognitive and emotional mechanisms of episodic memory into the language of spatial UX design, reframing experiential tourism spaces around memory-centered principles. The six design principles grounded in the integration of physical and digital media provide practical criteria for realizing long-term memory-based user experiences. This approach proposes a new direction for spatial design that integrates sensory, semantic, and relational dimensions, while future user-based and comparative studies are required to deepen its applicability and theoretical validity.
